Date: 2 March 2021 (Tuesday)

Time: 1:00-2:15 PM

Delivery: via Zoom

As the student population at HKU continues to rapidly diversify, most educators understand the need for creating an inclusive learning environment. Yet many of us may not be so sure how we can help our marginalized students without singling them out and causing them more embarrassment through unwanted attention. To enable teachers to build a more inclusive classroom, this workshop will address the following questions:

How can we acknowledge student differences?

How can we build a sense of community in the classroom?

How do we deal with problematic interactions or tensions in the classroom?

Through discussions, experience sharing and common classroom scenarios, this interactive workshop will focus on identifying effective inclusion strategies and providing teachers with concrete steps to make their own classes more inclusive.

This event is co-organised by the Centre for Applied English Studies, HKU.
